Advancing Women in ITEC
The Advancing Women in ITEC project run from October 2004 until December 2007. It was partly funded from the European Social Fund (ESF) under the Equal Programme.

The Equal Programme was about integration and re-integration of disadvantaged groups into the labour market, and women at higher-skills level who were returning to industry after a career break were included amongst the target groups.

Portia was the main project contractor, managing a budget of £1.8m and a development partnership of 23 major key player organisations, plus over 50 supporting organisations from industry, and public and voluntary sectors. They are listed on the PARTNERS page.

The project delivered over 80 outputs, including intervention tools and services for implementing gender diversity; Best Practice materials and a range of events to bring greater awareness of the opportunities and barriers to successful recruitment of women; research reports advancing understanding of diversity issues; and career information guidelines, with many female role models included to demonstrate through a variety of examples the widening scope of the opportunities that are emerging as a result of the transformations brought about by Digital Technologies.
