| In 2007, the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET contracted Portia to assist with their European JIVE project, one aspect of which was to offer support to women returning to employment following a career break.
The contract lasted from mid October till the end of December 2007. During this time, Portia worked with Inova Consultancy, who provided mentoring and occupational psychology expertise, to create a programme of support designed to enhance job-seeking efficacy skills of 22 women. Eleven indicators of success were identified, ranging from identifying a target number of suitable potential employers and job roles to actually starting a job. By the end of December a total of 306 positive instances were achieved against the chosen 11 indicators of success. Nearly all (20) women accomplished the important indicator of being invited by an employer to an interview or a skills assessment session. Three participants have actually received a job offer during the period of the project, with two in post by the end of December and one awaiting security clearance.
