genSET logo   genSET: gender in science is a new  EC FP7-funded project, the aim of which is to support European science institutions in taking action on gender in order to enrich science research; expand  human and intellectual R&D capital; increase scientific productivity; and create a fairer and more equal conditions for the participation of both women and men in science knowledge-making.

SET for Sport: London 1908, 1948, 2012 is an exciting collaborative outreach project involving the Hackney Learning Trust, Council, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers and secondary schools across Hackney. An Innovation Debate and exhibition that examine how science, engineering and technology have revolutionised sport and sporting equipment will launch in the 2009 autumn term.

  Getting You Back to IT An Innovative recruitment scheme developed with ThoughtWorks, an agile software company, involving in-house retraining in software development of women returners. The scheme was showcased at the EC's "Move Out of the Shadow conference 2008

genSET: Gender in Science project begins 1st September 2009
1st September 2009
Today Portia begun its Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) project genSET: gender in science engineering and technology , a 30 month project that will create opportunities for sustainable and meaningful dialogue on the role of gender equality and gender action plans, for promoting Science excellence into the 21st century.
